UNITED TO FIGHT FOOD ALLERGY
SeaFAC is a coalition of Seattle’s leading allergy experts from the University of Washington, Virginia Mason Medical Center/ Benaroya Research Institute and Seattle Allergy & Asthma Research Institute/ Northwest Asthma &Allergy Center.
Together, we are deepening the scientific understanding of how food allergy works and the clinical answers of what can be done about it.
HOW WE DO IT
SeaFAC unites researchers, clinical practitioners and the public in a variety of ways to provide a clearer understanding of food allergy in the PNW region.
Conducting scientific research and medical training
It all begins with the science:
- Research studies discovering the immune mechanisms that lead to food allergy
- Identifying novel therapies and interventions for food allergy sufferers.
- Supporting food allergy training for the University of Washington Allergy Fellowship.
Promoting clinical research with food allergy patients in the Pacific Northwest
- Seattle Allergy & Asthma Research Institute and Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason have established food allergy clinical research sites and both are members of the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Clinical Network (FCN).
- The FCN is a nationwide network of leading food allergy research and clinical care facilities supported by FARE with a common goal of ensuring that patients with food allergies have access to state-of-the-art diagnosis, care, research and clinical trials.
- Our area specialists meet regularly to discuss new ideas for food allergy intervention and research.
Engaging and educating our community
No conversation about food allergy is complete without involving the important voices of those who suffer from it.
- Our annual SeaFac Symposium brings our community together to share updates on current projects and to help the public better understand the changing frontier of food allergy.
- Our annual newsletter
